This is an inaugural post for me! I joined this group about a month ago when it first started called Proud Beauty Bloggers of Color. The concept is pretty simple - it's just many women of a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds that blog about beauty. Now I'm not sure I classify myself as a "beauty" blogger per say, but somehow they invited me along anyway which I thought was really nice. I missed out on the groups first post so I thought I couldn't miss this months theme which was a manicure devoted to the color orange. My regular viewers already know that's like a no-brainer for me since I love orange and own a lot more of the shade than is probably common in my polish collection! And of course I could never just choose one. So here's what I came up with....
I am holding a coral bottle because my camera went insane when I tried holding up my nails and the orange bottle simultaneously :/
Basecoat/Topcoat: Duri Rejuvacote / Poshe Fast Drying Topcoat
Basecolor: Rica Whiteout
Gradient: Sally Hansen Insta Dri Man-go Team and Xtreme Wear Coral Reef and Sun Kissed
Stamping polish: Konad Special Polish in Red
This manicure reads a bit like an ode to Sally Hansen lol and it kind of is. I wanted to create a manicure that was fast drying and color saturated - in short this meant turning to my Insta Dri's and X-treme Wear stash. Man-go Team and Sun Kissed are one of those polishes that draws your eye right on the display. They are bright, cheerful, and saturated and I couldn't choose between them so I chose both and accented it with a peachy coral. I'm also still deeply in the country of the DRK Nails obsessed so I whipped out my Designer Series plates once again (read about them here). One thing I noticed that people will say is that orange is a hard color to pull off. As a woman of color though I'm blessed to be able to wear pretty much any color I want. Lol that's probably why my stash is chock full of neons, yellows, and oranges. What do you think? I tried to keep this mani very simple compared to some of my more complex nail art and just let the color speak for itself. I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out too! And so here we are my first post for BBC and my ode to orange. I'm actually really more of an orange enthusiast than even you know because I also happen to own an alarming number of orange blushes, lipsticks, and shadows lol. Ah well when you love something it really shows! If you are new to my blog and didn't notice you can find all the products I used for this mani listed right in the Mani-louge (its like a card catalog for nails). Don't forget to also check out all the other beautiful mani's below from my other orange loving mavens ;) Thanks for reading and I'll see you next post...

ReplyDeleteLove it!!
ReplyDeleteI have serious nail art skills envy going on. Your manis are always to die for and this one even though simple is just a beautiful! Welcome to the group lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love your nails and your nail art is always fabulous! I love how the gradient gives extra depth.
ReplyDeleteAww thank you sweetie! Gradients are things that are also close to my heart lol ;)
ReplyDeleteAmanda thank you so much hun! I'm happy to come and play :) I'm sure next month will be just as fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie! You know I'm just obsessing as usual ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks doll! I did give honest consideration to just leaving it as the gradient, but my nails almost felt naked. It's weird its very hard for me to just wear a polish without adding nail art lol. I think they call that addict like behavior ;)
ReplyDeleteGirl...this is so beautiful!! Your nails are always perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie far from it though but I try :)
