Hey stamperistas,
Here we go with Part Duex of the MoYou London Zodiac Collection Chinese New Year Edition! If you didn't see Part I you can check it out here. Today we are just polishing off the remaining 5 of the Zodiac animals from the Chinese calendar. If you're wondering why 5 instead of 6 it's because MoYou London accidentally released the Ram/Goat plate early last Friday along with the first 6 plates. So let's see which characters remain!
Horse Hmm definitely loving the patterns on the hanfu and the stylized horses in the upper portions of the plate. I'm not sure how I feel about the giant horse in the middle though or the elliptical horse head as he looks scary. The larger horse I find myself questioning how well this will translate onto the nail.
Monkey! Cute cute cute. Suddenly I have the feeling that whoever designed the Dragon plate must have been feeling some kind of way about the Monkey too. Look at how packed this plate is with lots of tiny and big details. I love the tassle and the monkeys themselves are cute though there is one that has a element of slight evil to his face. Lol but maybe that's just me. I like this one a lot!
And as detailed as the monkey was wee see the Rooster somewhat lacks. This plate isn't very full. The hanfu and the girl steal a lot of focus here and for whatever reason there is a song bird with exquisite detailing that does not really relate to the rooster. The stylized rooster at the top is STUNNING! I wish they had done more with that across the whole plate.
Can't keep a good dog down! Lol well the pups on this plate are super cute and I'm loving the hanfu, but again this plate has a lot of empty space and the pup kind of looks like he's passing a cloud of gas in the upper corner. That's not really very attractive I have to say. This is my year too I'm like hmmmm....
Squeal like a pig. Lol let me stop. These pigs look like a combination of evil and cute but mostly evil. Its the slitted eyes. Oddly I find myself liking this plate - like that little boar with the flower on his rump is my kind of cute even though his eye looks evil. This is the coolest design I've also seen on all the hanfu except the dragon plate.
So there we have it. What do you think? Chinese New Year edition of the MoYou London Zodiac Collection is complete. I think there were some major hits and a few misses. All together not bad and I think pretty much anyone can find a plate in this collection that's worth owning. This second set of the plates will release Friday morning as usual and each plate will retail for 4.99 GBP. Happy hunting and I'll see you next post....
