Wallpaper Series: Damask Leadlght Lacquer Nail Art (Alcohol Ink Method)

I've got like an ancient and yet new post for your all ;) For those that have been super duper long time followers of my blog, I know few and far between right, you may remember that I have always loved and been obsessed with wallpaper.  In fact I created a series here called the Wallpaper Series.  It died a slow neglected death :/ Gah! In any case today it's back! Why?  Because the minute I saw this Leadlight Lacquer plate from Messy Mansion I knew damask wallpaper nail art was headed my way, and yours as well ;)

Basecoat/Topcoat: Duri Rejuvacote / Poshe Fast Drying Topcoat 
Base color: NYC White French Tip

EtoH Inks: Adirondack Stream, Cool Perl, Hazelnut, and Stonewashed

Stamping polish: Mundo de Unas Navy (3) and Light Gray (33)

Stamping plate:  Leadlight Lacquer A03

Here's the inspiration for this nail art. Oy! Complicated right? I was looking at this for days thinking, "How the hell am I going to get my nails to look like this?" Then I just decided to do things the way I always do them - via play!  I sat down with my alcohol (EtoH) inks and got to work and the result wasn't quite what I anticipated. Above I mattified the whole thing using Essie Matte About You to see if I could get a bit more of the "wallpaper effect".  I couldn't quite get the distressed look I was going for so I ended up restamping over my initial design.  Because it was so light the first time it actually ended up working fairly well as an end result though it didn't look like it's initial inspiration

Btw can anyone tell this is actually a combination of double stamping?  Lol I didn't think so. 

So what do you think?  One thing I will say is that working with the alcohol inks is tricky and there's a certain point where you hit that perfect level of speckled pattern where you are in the zone of a great pattern.  I still haven't quite hit it yet, but I'm going to keep trying.  I think even though I didn't hit the exact inspiration look I still really like how this turned out.   You can find Leadlight Lacquer plates on the Messy Mansion website.  Thanks for reading and I'll see you next post...
