Let me take a moment to clarify something that has been bugging me for those not familiar with my blog. Hot Off The Stamping Press posts are not review posts they are press posts informing you of new plate releases. It feels kind of silly saying this, but since people are asking me about plate sizes and image sizes etc I felt I should tell you directly these posts are not reviews hence they do not contain these types of information. If you want to see a review for a particular brand of plates, and certainly I've done a lot, you can either put that brand into the search box at the top of the blog or you can scroll down to the labels section and find that brand and what you are looking for there! I hope that made sense lol. Now let's talk about a Brazilian indie which I've done reviews for in the past and a brand that kinda shook things up in 2014 - DRK Nails.
So the first 5 plates in this post are actually all from the 1st large plate that DRK Nails ever produced. They later went on to produce something similar to these exact same plates in strip form and they named them exactly the same DRK A1 and so forth. So I'm not really sure why they felt the need to reproduce plate A once again in a smaller segments since they already did it once. I own the larger original plate. It stamps beautifully. I would not purchase any of these smaller ones since none of the images are new except the smaller side images.
Pursing my lips a bit here....
Dega whey? All of these images are from the larger DRK A plate accept the accent images around the sides.
Huge sigh here. All the typography and smaller accent images are new, but the full sized nail images are repeats.
Last one before we move onto the new stuff. If you don't own these plates its more of a bargain to actually purchase the larger plates rather than these small individual plates since the costs will quickly add up to more than the single individual XL plate. This plate features images that were not on the original DRK A plate, but are smaller accent images. Just in case you are wondering and want to compare here is the original DRK A plate.
Yay finally new images! This strikes me a bit like the Kalidoscope plates from MYL mixed in with the Holy Shapes. These images seem to be getting more and more popular. One thing I love about the DRK plates is when they put the tiny little borders around the outside of their smaller plates. It makes the nail art much more interesting.
More kaleidoscope/stained glass images. I can see a lot of beautiful mani's resulting from this plate!
My favorite plate of this entire release! It looks like snow flakes and brain matter blooming with lace and flowers. Lol I love love love this one!
This last plate bothers me a lot and when I tried to figure out what it was that was bothering me I realized that some of the inner patterns on this one are repeats from the DRK DS1 and DS2 smaller plates but the border is different. I'm not sure if that was intentional but it kind of makes the plate less fresh than I thought it was at first glance though I still really love these patterns.
So what do you think? These plates released I want to say 2-3 weeks ago. DRK has a tendency to sell out their wares really fast especially when they are brand new. This used to drive me into a frenzy feeling like I needed to rush to the store the instant they released the plates because it could be weeks before they restock. However they do in fact always restock and after the initial frenzy is over you can get what you want without too much hassle. Shipping from DRK is also insanely fast! Smaller DRK plates retail for $6.50 per plate plus shipping. The new plates are up but they require a little bit of searching for you have to click on the plates tab and then choose the 6 x 12 option and you will find all the smaller ones there. There's a 20% coupon available for the 4th of July holiday that you can take advantage of until midnight tonight EST. Happy hunting and I'll see you next post....
I just ordered the Cobogo 1 and 2, and the designer 3 plate yesterday during their 20% off sale so they should be still on the site. I can't wait to get these and start stamping. I love your blog btw!!
