Elevation Polish Journey Told Through Music Collection 2 Swatches and Nail Art Part 1 (Pic Heavy)

Welcome back laqueristas,

I know it hasn't been all that long since I posted a megathon of art and swatches for Elevation Polish and this month is very special because it brings the return of the fantastic Journey Through Music Collection Part Deux as well another gorgeous one of a kind Yeti.  And if that wasn't enough this month is the Annual EvP Charity Auction!  Unfortunately the collection was so big that I could not swatch and art them all out at once.  It was just beyond me so I decided to split the post into 2 parts. Part 1 will cover 4 polishes and Part 2 will cover the other 3 polishes and more Yeti's.  So a few things - below I have placed the links to all the songs each color was inspired by in the title of the polish; all you have to do is click.  And please forgive me if my swatches and photos are a bit different this time since I got a new camera and I'm still getting the hang of things - eep!  Now let's get started!

Ratatouille Strychnine

A shimmering pink and blue flecked shimmer topcoat inspired by Tori Amos' Mr. Zebra.  This one can be made to wear solo if you are committed.  It will take about 4 coats to reach opacity or you can do like I did and cheat and use a similar colored base color and then top it with this glorious shimmer!  It worked out perfectly it took about 2 coats to make it more opaque and less of an accent, but in my trials playing around with this polish I've found it looks gorgeous over a variety of shades including layered in between semi-opaque polishes.  When this polish hits the light just the right way you see flashes of blue everywhere as pictured below.

I felt like I went all out on this one a bit.  I really wanted something utterly feminine and I really wanted to create something that had a bit of naked nail showing.  Hahaha like a tiny peak-a-boo that this shimmer itself plays.  I was really thrilled with how gorgeously this came out!

Uniformish Pantsuit Sort Of Thing

I should have known this mauvish color was inspired by a Rufus Wainwright song.  Lol its the title and I can't believe I didn't get it right away.  In any case this is a creme ONE COAT wonder! No you don't have to apply it thickly because Lulu is so good at creating these creme one coaters if you apply it as you normally would you will get one smooth glossy self-leveling coat.  I'm a fan!  I wore this so simply because I adore colors like this on my skin tone since anything that lives in the nude family is very flattering on me.  Plus if you know this song you know he sings about his art and his art teacher so I had to get some color in here without overwhelming the base ;)

I wanted to keep this one really subtle because of the neutral shade.  I actually ended up trying about 2 or 3 different nail arts before I settled on this one.  I actually think the art is low key enough that if you work in a really strict environment you'd be able to get away with wearing this.   It was weird because even though I made this really subtle I received a lot of compliments while I wore these out and about.

Little aside I love Rufus Wainwright whenever I hear his voice it reminds me of a very dear friend :)

The Moon Don't Move

The Moon is a mid tone gray polish packed with decadent kelly green shimmer inspired by Robin Trower Bridge of Sighs. What's crazy is how apparent this green shimmer becomes when it hits the sun.  I don't always have the luxury of shooting in sun because of my schedule, but boy is this one super pretty and totally worth it!  It dries to a high gloss and is opaque in 2 coats.  Pictured below with topcoat.

I really need to do an outdoor shot of this to show you guys the sheer awesomeness of this green shimmer!

As soon as I saw this I knew I was creating some Halloween nail art.  Lol sorry but this shade was calling!  And I knew I wanted to pair it with a prior release - NYC.  And I wanted to use the moon as a feature of this art the rest as you say is history

Scrape The Screw

Holographic cranberry sauce in nail polish form and I love love love this color!  It also reminds me of wine and fall and everything that's so awesome about this season.  This really requires 2 coats to build of the depth of color needed to bring out the full berry tones.  It dries so shiny and so glossy I did not use a topcoat for any of the pictures except my accent nails.

So flattering and perfect for fall right? Its even gorgeous for Christmas if you are thinking that far ahead!

I'm not entirely pleased about how this came out so this one may get a re-do in part 2.  Maybe it needed a nude base for the grapes or something else...hmmm.  The bunches didn't execute as perfectly as I would have hoped.  Maybe I should have stretched them across the 2 nails....hmmm I could also be overthinking which I am prone to doing....

In any case let's end it here for now!  What did you think? There are a lot of truly beautiful polishes in this collection an Lulu has really outdone herself.  I also wanted to take the time to point out that
there is also a special limited edition for the month of October called Yeti Rides A Bike.  I didn't receive the polish, but its gorgeous you can check out swatches of it on the Elevation Polish website. As usual with Yeti's it only available for the month of September and they tend to move fast so get it while you can!  You can find The Journey Told Through Music 2 Collection on the Elevation Polish website September 7th and 22nd at 9PM CST and 9AM CST respectively.

Also please remember this is a special month for Elevation Polish when the annual Charity Auction takes place! I am so freaking excited and you should be too because Lulu has collabs from so many different polish brands happening for this one.  That means a chance to get a special Yeti collab polish from many different brands.  You can see sneak peeks on Lulu's Instagram account - @elevationpolish.  In any case make sure to keep an eye out and thanks for reading...
